Empowering Lives, Healing Futures
Welcome to the heart of MATUN Women Empowerment and Green Livelihood Foundation's flagship health initiative. We believe that a diagnosis shouldn't be a destiny, and distance shouldn't be a barrier to survival.
Through our CAPE (Cancer Awareness, Prevention, and Elimination) Campaign, we are taking the fight against cancer directly to the doorsteps of those who need it most.
MATUN Cancer Care is the foundation's flagship initiative under the banner "Mobilizing Awareness & Treatment – Uplifting & Normalizing Care".
Cancer remains a major health challenge in rural Bihar due to low awareness, late detection, limited screening facilities, stigma, and barriers to treatment. MATUN Cancer Care tackles these issues head‑on by bringing services directly to communities, especially women who often face additional socio‑cultural hurdles in seeking care.
Cancer Awareness, Prevention and Elimination – delivered through mobile vans that serve as fully equipped outreach units.
Mobile vans travel to remote villages, haats (local markets), and semi-urban areas, reaching populations that lack easy access to hospitals.
Interactive sessions on common cancers (breast, cervical, oral), risk factors, symptoms, prevention (tobacco cessation, HPV awareness, healthy lifestyle), and the importance of early detection — delivered in local languages with visual aids to reduce stigma.
Guidance on treatment options, financial aid schemes (Ayushman Bharat), transportation help, emotional counseling — to "normalize" cancer care and encourage family support.
Safe, women-friendly spaces in vans, female health workers, survivor stories to inspire hope, reduce fear, and uphold dignity.
Screening & Early Detection: On-site basic screenings, referrals for mammography/Pap smears, and coordination with government and private health facilities for follow-up diagnostics.
Links cancer care with women's empowerment by training local women as health ambassadors, promoting green livelihoods (e.g., nutrition gardens for healthier diets), and addressing related issues like anemia and reproductive health.
The mobile van model is highly effective in resource-constrained settings like rural Bihar, as it removes geographical and logistical barriers while building trust through repeated, face-to-face engagement.
In Bihar's rural landscape, women often bear the double burden of household responsibilities and health neglect. MATUN Cancer Care aligns perfectly with the foundation's vision by combining health equity, women's empowerment, and community resilience. It not only saves lives through awareness and early action but also contributes to greener, healthier livelihoods by promoting preventive practices and nutrition.
MATUN invites partnerships, CSR support, volunteers, and donations to expand the fleet of mobile vans, strengthen screening capabilities, and scale the CAPE Campaign across more districts.
Together, let's mobilize awareness, ensure timely treatment, and uplift lives — one community at a time.
