MATUN Women Empowerment & Green Livelihood Foundation is a passionate, grassroots-driven social impact organization dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved women, youth, and rural communities in Bihar, India — with a special focus on the challenges faced in regions like Darbhanga and beyond.
We don’t just provide aid; we build resilient, healthy, and self-reliant communities where every woman lives with dignity and opportunity.
MATUN was not conceived in a boardroom. It was born in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 — MATUN didn't start with grand plans; it was forged on the front lines of crisis, amidst the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While providing emergency relief in rural Bihar, Our Founder immersed himself in rural Bihar communities, witnessing firsthand the silent struggles: mothers denied basic healthcare, unable to access basic healthcare, girls forced to drop out of school, families battling preventable diseases, and a hidden epidemic of late-detected cancer among rural women due to stigma, lack of awareness, and distant facilities.,. In these villages, cancer is often a death sentence—not because it's incurable, but because of the "Silent Crisis"—the stigma, the lack of awareness, and the zero access to screening. MATUN was founded to break that silence.
What began as urgent humanitarian relief evolved into a powerful, sustainable mission: To build empowered, healthy, and self-reliant rural communities where every woman lives with dignity, health, and opportunity.
The Silent Crisis We Confront In rural Bihar, cancer often claims lives not because it's untreatable, but because it's discovered too late. Limited health knowledge, cultural barriers, and inaccessible screening turn early symptoms into tragic outcomes. MATUN is changing this by bringing awareness, prevention, and early detection directly to village doorsteps.
We believe in a holistic approach to rural development. Our "MATUN" acronym represents our mission:
We tackle interconnected challenges through targeted, community-led programs: To create measurable and long-term impact, MATUN has developed integrated programs:
To create a future where every woman in rural communities lives with dignity, health, and economic independence — and where no life is lost to preventable or detectable diseases due to lack of awareness, access, or opportunity.
We envision a world where:
Our vision is not just to serve communities — but to transform them into self-reliant ecosystems of growth, health, and dignity.
To empower underserved women and rural communities by delivering accessible healthcare, promoting early cancer detection, advancing education, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities — ensuring that no life is lost due to lack of awareness, access, or opportunity.
We are committed to:
